Events Director Kate Berman to switch gears after winter season
In 17 years, Kate Berman has worn many hats for the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation: parent, volunteer, board member, fundraising events director, but she will be hanging up her hat for good at the conclusion of the 2013 winter season.
Starting as a parent of alpine team members Sara and Riley in 1995, Berman was a stalwart volunteer and joined the SVSEF Board of Directors in 2000. Capitalizing on her many talents, including a tireless work ethic and keen eye for detail, she quickly morphed into the non-profit organization's primary fundraiser and was officially named events director in 2001.
Executive Director Don Wiseman said, "The SVSEF has been blessed to have had Kate Berman as part of the organization and leading its event fund raising efforts for over 15 years. Kate continually raised the bar for the Fall Game Dinner and Janss Pro Am. It will be impossible to replace Kate; she’s one of a kind! No one can match her in passion, dedication, work ethic and sheer love for mission of the SVSEF."
In her resignation letter to the SVSEF board, Berman stated, "I cherish the relationships I have built with the Ketchum/Sun Valley community and I especially treasure my relationships with the SVSEF's staff and families. Being a part of the SVSEF will forever be a highlight in my life."
Berman will remain at the helm for the SVSEF's very popular events and major fundraisers, the Fall Game Dinner on November 10, 2012, and Janss Pro Am, April 4-6, 2013.
Kate and her husband, Andy Berman, have two children, Sara, 23, and Riley, 21, both of whom are SVSEF alumni.
