Sun Valley the latest stop on Intermountain Snowboard Series
2/02/2012
Regional snowboarders make their annual stop in Sun Valley, Idaho, for three days of Intermountain competition starting tomorrow, February 3.
Sun Valley Snowboard Director Andy Gilbert said a record field has registered for boardercross and slopestyle events, which will be held on Friday and Saturday at Dollar Mountain in Sun Valley. Halfpipe will be staged on Sunday.
"We are running two boardercrosses tomorrow and we have 90 for each. It's sold out at this point," Gilbert said. "We have 110 for slopestyle and are hoping for 70 in halfpipe."
Practice begins at 9 a.m. each day with competition commencing at 10 a.m. Awards will be held each day within 45 minutes of the final heat.
Gilbert said he is very happy to be able to compete at home.
"It is the one time of the year when the snowboard team is really allowed to showcase what we do. Not only how hard our kids work and train but what a great staff we have and what amazing volunteers."
