Morgan Arritola

Morgan, an SVSEF Alum, didn’t start skiing until the age of 16. Since then, she has risen very quickly in the sport, earning a spot on the US Ski Team World Cup Squad starting in the 2010 season. “Mo” won a spot on the US Olympic Team and represented the US and the SVSEF very well, skiing as the top American in the 15 km pursuit event.  Additionally, she scored several World Cup top-30’s.  She also represented the US at the 2009 World Champs in Liberc, Czech Rep. scoring a 22nd place in the Mass Start 30 km Freestyle (Skate) race.

Simi Hamilton: US Ski Team

After spending several summers with us during his time at Middlebury College, the Aspen, CO native has made a full time move to Sun Valley. Simi had an outstanding first year as a full-time professional ski racer, winning several SuperTour races, a National Championship, as well as earning a spot on the US Olympic Team and the US Ski Team for the 2011 season.  Simi was the top American in the Skate Sprint at the Olympics in Vancouver and was the fastest qualifier in the Skate Sprint at the Under-23 World Championships. 


 

Mike Sinnott

Mike grew up in the Wood River Valley as part of the SVSEF. In 2007, he helped to lead Dartmouth College to their first NCAA title in 31 years. Mikey earned a World Cup start in Canmore, BC this winter, representing the USA in the Sprint competition. Mike standout races in 2010 came in Slovenia, where he skied to 6th, 7th and 4th place finished against a loaded field at the Europa Cup Finals.

Nicole DeYong

Nicole came to the SVSEF by way of Anchorage, AK and University of Alaska in Anchorage. She has had a very suc­cessful 2010 season, establishing herself among the Top-10 in the US in both Sprint and Distance skiing, winning her first ever SuperTour race in Aspen, CO and representing the USA in World Cup competitions in Canmore, BC. Nicole had an outstanding European tour late in the 2010 Season, skiing as the top American at the Europa Cup Finals in Slovenia.

Colin Rodgers - Head Coach

Colin came to the SVSEF from the Maine Winter Sports Center and Middlebury College. He is having a very successful recovery from an injury that prevented him from competing for most of the 2010 season. In 2009, Colin qualified to ski at the World Cups in Whistler in January, and went on to ski in the top 30 in the Sprint, scoring his first WC points. Winter 2009 also saw him win his first SuperTour races on the way to securing the Overall SuperTour Sprint Title. In earning the Sprint title, he won a chance to race in the spring World Cups in Lahti, FIN and Trondheim, NOR, where he gained valuable experience and earned outstanding results.

Matt Gelso

A new addition to the ODT for the 2010/2011 Season, Matt is an outstanding racer who comes to the SVSEF by way of Truckee, CA and the University of Colorado. Matt had a very impressive 2010 season. While competing in the very strong Western College Circuit, he skied his way on to 8 podiums, and tallied 5 wins, including a great NCAA Championships where he skied to an impressive 3rd in 20 km Skate and won an NCAA Championship in the 10 km Classic.
 

Reid Pletcher: SVSEF / CU-Boulder 

Reid, a SVSEF Alum, is currently skiing for the University of Colorado in Boulder as well as SVSEF. Over the past few seasons, he has established himself as one of the top sprint skiers in the country, while at the same time developing his distance skiing. During the 2010 season, Reid earned 4 top-10 college finished, including an outstanding 4th place in the 20 km Skate race at NCAA Championships in Steamboat. He also skied to several SuperTour top-10’s.

 

Alexa Turzian: SVSEF / CU - Boulder

Alexa, who grew up in Ketchum, competed in both alpine and nordic skiing for the SVSEF. In 2006, Lex became the youngest XC National Champion in US history, winning a title at 18. While racing for the University of Colorado during the 2010 season, Alexa skied to 6 top-6 finishes against very strong fields in College races, including a 2nd place in the 15km Skate at NCAA Championships in Steamboat Springs, CO.
