SVSEF Cross Country Gold Team 


Colin Rodgers - Head Coach 


Colin, a Vermont native and Middlebury College graduate, moved west and joined the SVSEF for the 2007 racing season.  Born and raised in the East he began competitive skiing at a young age and became Junior National Champion at age 15.  Cross Country ski racing has taken him all over the world, yet his desire to reach his true potential in the sport has landed him in Sun Valley.  Currently leading the XC Gold Team as coach he is looking forward to tackling his second season as team leader.

Mike Sinnott 


Mikey grew up in the Wood River Valley as part of the SVSEF, and the club’s influence on his life has shaped his path to athletic success. Mikey’s long list of National podium titles began as a junior racer and continued through last season.  One of his many noteworthy accomplishments was being 2007 Men’s Nordic Team captain for the Dartmouth College Ski Team when they won their first overall NCAA title in 31 years. Since 2007, Mikey has earned over 15 World Cup starts as a Gold Team member. The 2013 season held much success for Mikey as he won the Overall U.S. SuperTour Title which crowned him as the top male skier in the country. He podiumed in several North American competitions including a win at the Super Tour Classic Sprint in Minneapolis, MN and a podium finish at U.S. Nationals in the Classic Sprint in Soldier Hollow, UT. This past season’s success has earned him World Cup start rights for period 1 this winter and Mikey is eying Sochi intently.

Matt Gelso 


Matt joined the XC Gold Team for the 2010-11 racing season following an outstanding collegiate carrier at the University of Colorado, Boulder. During his four years of representing the CU Buffs, Matt was consistently their top male finisher. Formerly a member of the U.S. Ski Team, Matt’s desire to pursue ski racing at the professional level has lead him to the SVSEF. Matt, a Truckee, CA native comes from a strong ski racing background including several Junior National Titles. This past year Matt was a consistent podium threat in any distance race he entered on the domestic SuperTour circuit. Matt’s top early season domestic results earned him World Cup starts this past December in Canmore, AB, where he had his best international finish ever and his second World Cup start became a career highlight!     


Miles Havlick  


Miles is rejoining the SVSEF after a four year hiatus with the University of Utah. He took a post graduate gap year with the SVSEF after high school and has since become the top male XC competitor in the NCAA! Not only is Miles an excellent athlete, but he is also a phenomenal student and has recently been nominated by U of U for NCAA Student Athlete of the Year. He has been studying Exercise and Sports Science with a focus on Exercise Physiology. Miles could arguably be considered the best American male skier to ever go through NCAA skiing. He has won the national championship event two times, once as a Junior and once as a Senior, and has been on the podium four times during his four year NCAA career.

Women's Team


Chelsea Holmes 


Chelsea is a native of Girdwood, Alaska, and first began competitively ski racing during her high school years at Diamond High in South Anchorage.  Her solid regional results earned her attention from many collegiate coaches across the country and she elected to take a spot on the ski team at the University of Nevada, Reno.  There she studied Health Ecology and represented the UNR Wolfpack NCAA XC Ski Team for four winters. Her impressive results post college, including two Canadian National Championship wins as an American in 2011, prompted her to pursue XC racing at the next level.  Chelsea is going on her second season with the Gold Team and is honored to be a part of the Wood River Valley’s impressive Nordic community.

Rose Kemp 


Rose is a recent University of Utah graduate and Boise, Idaho native. She grew up competing against the SVSEF for the Bogus Basin Nordic Team, but is now excited to be based out of Ketchum as she makes her bid as a pro. At the University of Utah, Rose graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and became an outstanding Nordic competitor. Her impressive colligate results prove she is capable of being in the mix with the top domestic females right from the beginning of the racing season. Rose is a great addition to the SVSEF women’s Nordic program and we are excited to see where her career with the elite training group will take her!

Mary Rose 


Mary, a University of Colorado, Boulder graduate this past spring, was born and raised in Steamboat Springs, CO. Mary’s efforts as a top junior landed her on the CU Ski Team where she was a top competitor and Majored in Geography.  Last summer she joined the Gold Team for a few months of dryland training and became an instant fit for the program. Her hard work last summer paid off and she had her best results ever on the Western NCAA circuit! Now Mary is intent on even better results with a year of full time training underneath her belt and we are excited to watch and see what she can do out on the tracks.
