Dear Devo families,
Spending a winter night in a yurt with a pack of team-mates is one of the most memorable parts of the Devo Team experience. For elementary school kids, this SVSEF tradition can also be a formative step toward self sufficiency and an early opportunity to work with a group away from the comforts of parents and home. It's also a heck of a lot of fun!
Day one of the trip involves packing gear, loading the van, unloading the van, loading sleds with water, food and sleeping bags, navigating to the Boulder Yurt, lunch prep, camp organization, an afternoon ski excursion, cocoa, games, dinner, talent show, tall tales, sauna, and bed by 9:30.
Day two starts with a healthy breakfast, morning powder ski tour, lunch, packing, clean-up, re-stocking firewood, and a fast run back to the van for an early afternoon return to Lake Creek.
Participants must be 3rd grade or older, and be able to ski about 1.5 uphill miles with a light pack. Kids will be expected to assist with equipment loading, camp chores, including snow/water collection, firewood stocking, food prep and clean-up.
Cost for the trip is $80. (due at drop off) includes transport, yurt rental and food.
