Important Information & How to Register

2010 - 2011 Season

TEAM PLACEMENT:  Athlete team placement is determined by the coaches. Team placements are posted on the registration page of the SVSEF website. If you feel your athlete’s team placement is not correct, or if you feel your athlete is not ready to move up, please call or email the program director or head coach to discuss the situation. Do not change teams without the approval of either the program director or head coach.

NO PAYMENT IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF REGISTRATION. Late Registrations will be assessed a $60.00 charge if postmarked or received after the above dates. Registration paperwork is not complete until the following items are signed and returned: Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, Inc. Program Agreement, Medical Information Form with current health insurance information, Fundraising/Volunteer Questionnaire and the program specific Parent Committee form. Please make a copy of your signed Program Agreement to keep as a reference. Returning athletes who are not registered by the above dates and who have not renewed their USSA license cannot participate in any SVSEF activity, including dryland training, until registration paperwork is completed and processed by the SVSEF office. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE FORMS TO COACHES!

SKI PASSES: SVSEF ski passes will not have any use restrictions for the 10/11 season.  The price will be $369. Pass payment will be due in full on or before November 10, 2010. They will be equivalent to Blaine County student ski passes however SVSEF coaches will continue to work with Sun Valley Company to establish beneficial training and group skiing times during limited openings and peak holidays for everyone’s safety. Most importantly, purchasing an SVSEF ski pass supports the purchase of SVSEF coach passes. SVSEF purchases athlete and coach passes on a tiered scale and if all athletes purchased a pass through SVSEF, the coach passes would be completely paid for. It’s a win-win situation, savings for SVSEF and savings to you by keeping program fees at last year’s pricing.

FEE PAYMENT SCHEDULE:   50% of the tuition must be paid by October 10, 2010 and the remaining 50% must be paid by December 10, 2010Baldy Passes are due in full by November 10, 2010Payments not received or paid in full with regard to the above terms will be assessed a 10% charge on total tuition. The SVSEF sends out statements at the beginning of each month.

USSA LICENSE AND LIABILITY INSURANCE (REQUIRED): All athletes must have valid USSA licenses. As a returning athlete you should have received a renewal reminder via e-mail. If you have not already done so, go on line to http://www.ussa.org/ and complete your registration renewal. Online renewal is immediate whereas mailing the application can take 2-3 weeks to process. No athlete will be allowed to participate in any SVSEF activity until their license has been renewed with USSA.

Again this year, SVSEF will acquire liability insurance for our athletes through the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA). In order for us to acquire liability insurance through USSA, athletes must hold a valid USSA license. Hence, the importance for license renewal.

CODE OF CONDUCT: The Code of Conduct is included in your paperwork, please read it with your athlete. Do not return the “Code of Conduct” form, however your athlete must sign the SVSEF, Inc. Program Agreement “Code of Conduct” section.

MEDICAL INFORMATION FORM (REQUIRED): The SVSEF needs accurate information about you, your family and athlete, and especially your athlete’s medical status and current health insurance information. Accurate email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses are vital for communication to keep you and your athlete informed. In addition, the Medical Information Form is copied into notebooks which are kept in the office and in every van so we have accurate information pertaining to your athlete in case of an accident or injury. If you change any of this information during the year, please contact the SVSEF office and give us the updates. Please do not hesitate, communicate changes to the SVSEF office.

SVSEF FUNDRAISING/VOLUNTEER QUESTIONNAIRE (REQUIRED): The SVSEF survives on volunteerism, without volunteers we could not succeed. The Fundraising/Volunteer Questionnaire gives the staff valuable information that helps us with our fundraising. Each and every SVSEF athlete benefits from our fundraising efforts – Tuition only covers coachs’ salaries. Thus, for every tuition dollar collected, we must fundraise another dollar to cover all other expenses. Please take time to complete the form and list any special talents, services or opportunities we could use.

TEAM PARETNS COMMITTEE QUESTIONNAIRE (REQUIRED): Each of the four programs (Alpine, Cross Country, Freestyle and Snowboarding) needs a Parent Committee to help with the local races/events, team banquets and assist in rounding up volunteers for our fundraisers. Your help is essential to keeping our program running so please fill this out and send back with your registration paperwork. We would like to organize these committees as soon as possible.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION: SVSEF will be awarding financial scholarships for tuition and travel again this year.  The application process for tuition and travel scholarships are separate and travel scholarships are available for Returning Athletes only (see the application or scholarship info webpage for eligible teams). Returning athletes applying for financial scholarships for tuition and/or travel must submit their application by August 15, 2010.   The deadline for new athletes to apply for scholarships for tuition only is October 15th. Returning athletes have priority when awarding financial scholarships. Submitting applications late will jeopardize the financial scholarship amount. Applications are available on the SVSEF website under Programs and Registration/Scholarship info.

LIFE FLIGHT:  Life Flight membership is available through SVSEF at a very affordable price of $35 per year per family. This is well worth the cost and highly recommended. Applications are available on line with the registration papers and available at the SVSEF office.
